Further information about the Casino Ballroom and Casino Circus. |
The Casino Ballroom burnt down in October 1946, as shown in the photograph from the Isle of Thanet Gazette for 18 October 1946. The sad state of the buildings fronting Marine Terrace shown in the second photograph suggest that the second photograph could have been taken after the fire. Many thanks to Jim Greaves for this information. |

An undated programme for the Casino Circus held in the car park behind the Casino Ballroom shows that the circus was an elaborate affair. As the programme refers to the Casino Ballroom it is likely that the date of the programme is 1946. |

A highlight of the Hippodrome year was the annual pantomime. In 1953 the pantomime was Goldilocks and the the three bears. |
Hippodrome Pantomime programme 1953 |
Some of the pantomimes were photographed by Graeme Dearden of 4 Hawley Square, dating the pantomimes to the late 1940s or early 1950s. |
Pantomimes were also photographed by another Margate photographer, Ken Franks. His dates are unknown, but the photographs probably come from the same era. |
